Last night (Sunday), I was called in to do my first performance of Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding since I left the show in early September. They apparently gave too many people the night off, because not only was I called in to play Father Mark, but various other ex-cast members were also called in. Included were my roommate CC (Tina’s mother, Mrs. Vitale), Pete W. (Tony father, Mr. Nunzio), Hollis R. (ditzy bridesmaid Marina Galina), and Alison L. (pregnant bridesmaid Connie). So it was like Old Home Week for a whole bunch of us. I still know most of the cast. They were mostly delighted to see me, I’m happy to report, and I was similarly delighted to see them. We were all pretty jazzed for the show, and I think that spirit was caught by the audience – it felt more like a Saturday crowd than a Sunday crowd, and that’s a very good thing! I’ve been gone long enough to get a second wind for doing the show, and I enjoyed it more than I had in a long time. In case you’re wondering, I have NO thoughts whatsoever of going back into it full-time, though I will continue to fill in here and there. I took a few photos during the show.
Here’s Maddie (Carly), Mr. Nunzio (Pete), Grandma Nunzio (Judy), and Tony (Steve). Steve was hired only a few weeks before I left the show and this was only his fourth time playing Tony, but it looks like it’s going to be a good role for him!
Here we see some tasty delicacies. The food looks good too. That’s Cheryl as Loretta Black, with stage manager Lauren just emerging from the kitchen area.
Best man Barry (Matt) with his pregnant girlfriend Connie (Alison). They’re in the lobby, literally seconds away from being introduced and making their grand entrance at the start of the reception. In case you’re wondering, I believe that’s a mint on Connie’s tongue.
