Sign o’ the Times

I had to capture this image for posterity. One of the many great things about it is the diversity of reactions I’m sure it will induce. Some will no doubt see it as a symptom of Obama-as-rock-star run amok. The truth, of course, is far more mundane. What we’re looking at here is good old-fashioned American capitalism in its most basic form – Give the people what they want. No wait – that should read: Sell the people what they want. In any event, I believe this is an image which, for better and for worse, may well come to symbolize far more than its original humble intent as a piece of advertising.
