As you may recall, I recently reported on the loss of my long-time day job. Well, happy news – I have a new job! Starting Monday, I will be working for a consulting firm in Evanston. The work will be similar to what I did at my old job – creating/editing presentations in PowerPoint. There will also be some assistant-type responsibilities, helping my fellow graphics person with calendar management, travel arrangements, etc., but graphics should be the bulk of the job.

One of the nice features of this job is that it will take me about 15 minutes less time to get to it than it took to get to my old job, since my apartment on the north side of Chicago is actually closer to Evanston than it is to the Loop. There are also some nice amenities/temptations in the immediate neighborhood. A large Border’s bookstore is less than a block away, across the street from a very nice movieplex. And one block over is Lulu’s, a wonderful restaurant that I fear will be coming to know me far better in the months to come! There are several other noteworthy restaurants in the vicinity, including Le Peep. I mention Le Peep because a whole bunch of us met there a couple years ago to celebrate my nephew’s graduation from Northwestern, so if you were among that group, you know about where I work.

It would be contrary to company policy, as well as to general decorum, for me to discuss such matters as compensation and benefits, so I will leave that topic aside. I will simply say that I am happy to have found a decent job so quickly in these economic times. The people there seem very nice and very professional, and I’m looking forward to starting!
