It’s Official, He’s Coming Back For More!
Frankie Week, as we call it, is always a treat for us. The audiences are large and very appreciative. They tend to be demographically tilted toward women of a certain age, many of whom bring their old Frankie Avalon LPs with them for Frankie to autograph (and he does!). It’s also a good time for us actor types because everything gets fixed for Frankie Week. What I mean is that props, furniture, and equipment that we’ve been dealing with for months all get repaired for that week. It’s a spectacle and a bit of a performing lesson for us as well – Frankie is a total professional. He knows exactly what he can and can’t do and he has his own act down pat. Now granted, I’m not likely to ever be in the sort of position Frankie is in, with a catalog of lovingly remembered hit singles and a large, adoring fan base, but the techniques Frankie utilizes to portray himself are ones that any performer can profit from by observing.
The more eagle-eyed reader may note that I sometimes use a detail from this photo as a userpic. It may be the one time anyone will ever crop Frankie out of a picture in favor of my face.
