Home?

I think we can all agree that this is a lousy shot, speaking from a standpoint of photographic excellence. I will hasten to note that I did not snap it. In fact, I'm pretty sure that nobody snapped it -- it was taken by an automated camera poised on a passing automobile, a camera that probably took thousands of photos on that particular day. For this, you see, comes to us courtesy of Google Maps.

There are still a lot of streets in a lot of cities that Google Maps has not photographed in detail, but they've added this one to the roster. This is a recent photo of the house in Detroit in which I grew up; in which I lived until I was 25. I would have preferred to include a shot from the front, but I've settled for this side shot. Unlike the house I remember, this one is now surrounded by big trees, and the view from the front shows very little of the house.

I don't know that anyone outside my immediate family or really long-time friends will find this of interest, but here it is. I could say a whole lot more about what this photo makes me think and feel, but I wouldn't know where to start. And if I did start, I wouldn't know where to finish.
