This Just In…

You might have heard about the passing of actor Dennis Weaver. For the uninitiated, Weaver is best known for two TV roles: Chester Goode in the early years of Gunsmoke and the title role in the cop show McCloud, although I always think of him in the 1971 TV movie Duel, which was directed by 24-year-old Steven Spielberg. Weaver died in February from cancer, and I just heard about it today. At the same time, I heard an interesting anecdote about Mr. Weaver with a Chicago connection:

As you may know, Chicago was for many years home to Hugh Hefner’s Playboy mansion. The parties held there in the 60s and 70s are legendary. Well at one particular party, the guest list included none other than Mick Jagger. As the story goes, Jagger was wandering around the mansion at one point and entered a bedroom to find Mr. Hefner lying on top of Dennis Weaver. Jagger is reported to have reacted by shouting, “Hey, Hugh, get off McCloud!”
