I have some friends who are into the pirate thing. I also have some friends who are into the knitting thing. What’s more, there is some overlap between the two groups. So when I read about this website on onceupon’s LJ, I felt obliged to pass it along. It’s called helloyarn.com (click on that website name for a link). The patterns are downloadable and FREE and as the following examples show, they have various pirate-themed items. So as you’re whiling away your days up in the crow’s nest, awaiting the sight of either land or a ship to plunder, you can get out your knitting needles and make these either for yourself, or as a gift to curry favor with your captain.

YarrrrrrrrrN

Thanks for this link, CofC. The last few weeks, I will happen to look up from a sewing demo or during a textile lecture at school and am met with a sea of staring skulls, looking out at me from the chests of my mostly drooling, glazed-eyed students. I've actually tried to teach some of them to knit this quarter. I'm printing them out as I type this to pass out to them next week. Perhaps these skull patterns will perk them up and help them rise to the occasion. Will time tell? CC (aka YR, aka Ma)
