Word to the Wise

Current Mood: respectful
Current Music: Edelweiss - from The Sound of Music
A respectful nod today in the direction (and for the direction) of Robert Wise, who died yesterday at the age of 91. He first came to prominence with an Oscar nomination for film editing for Citizen Kane. As a director, his work included such classics as The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Haunting, West Side Story, and The Sound of Music. I even forgave him the bloated excesses and somnambulant pacing of one of his last directorial efforts, Star Trek: The Motion Picture. All lovers of the cinema should bow their heads for a moment today.

Robert Wise - Requiescat in Pace

Hi Chuck !
Thanks for the note. I hadn't heard that Mr Wise had passed on. Remember what grandpa Herb Greenia used to say when someone passed on..."Funny,he never did THAT before." Also, funny how that accompanying pic of Mr Wise looks so much like a relative of ours ! Oh well...I guess we are all brothers in the end. Take care !
