If I’ve Been Cast in a Show, Someone Should Let Me Know

This is a really specific set of circumstances, and it has happened just like this THREE TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK! I’m walking down the sidewalk. A man is walking in the opposite direction. Right before he and I pass one another, he turns toward someone in a parked car and yells an obscenity at them or flips them off. He and I then immediately pass one another with me passing between him and the person he’s just flipped off.

I really don’t think I’m the paranoid type, but that’s not where I want to be. One can’t help thinking in such a situation that if the person in the car is pissed off and armed, they might take active exception to being greeted in such a manner. Maybe it’s just me, but if I’m going to be shot, I’d really prefer to have done something to deserve it. All in all, I’d much rather the guy flipped ME off and kept on walking.

But let’s get back to my original point – this has happened to me three times in a week! Different guys, different streets. Does anyone else think this is excessive to the point of utter weirdness? Is this a scene from a play that is taking place in another dimension and they’ve cast me as an extra? Should I be flattered that I’ve gotten some attention from the cosmic casting agents, or should I be miffed at not getting a speaking part? These are weighty questions and I hope that clear answers will be forthcoming.
