I haven’t been to Detroit in almost a year and half, since my mother’s funeral, and I really wanted to go when there wasn’t something sad or momentous going on. It took a little jousting with the folks at Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding to get the time off, but we finally got it done.
For the record, I’ll be getting on an Amtrak train on the morning of Friday, November 10th. I’ll be catching a ride back to Chicago with MH on Sunday the 12th. By a happy coincidence, she is setting out that morning to drive to Oklahoma, so she’ll just go there by way of Chicago.
That probably sounds like a terribly brief trip, and it is. But it was the best I could do in the near term, so I plan on enjoying it to the fullest. I’m planning on staying at my father’s house in Roseville. That probably sounds like a far-off rural town, but in fact, it’s a modest suburb just a couple of miles north of the Detroit border. The red dot on the map below shows the approximate location of Roseville. If you’re a friend or relative of mine from Michigan, I hope I’ll see you there! As a matter of fact – EP, call or email me! I’ve mislaid your contact info!
