Two birthday wishes must be aired – yesterday was FP’s and today is my father’s.

I will offer one quick take on FP. She and I have been friends pretty much since we met over in Greece on my 2000 trip there. I should have realized we were meant to be friends when she became the only person who’s ever had the answer to my all-time music trivia stumper. It’s this: Who was the artist who recorded the hit single, “Daisy a Day”? If you’re having trouble remembering it, the refrain went like this:

I’ll give you a daisy a day dear, I’ll give you a daisy a day.
I’ll love you until the rivers run still,
And the four winds we know blow away.

And this is what the fellow looked like:
The scary part is that this song is actually far more sappy than that excerpt might lead one to believe. But FP rolled the answer right out as if she’d just been singing the song that morning. As for the rest of you, yes, you could Google it and have the answer in 30 seconds, but that’s not the point! Anyway, sincere and belated birthday wishes go out to FP!

As for my father, I’ve just gotten off the phone from wishing him a happy birthday. No brief anecdote would even begin to suffice as a tribute, so I will save any such details for another time.

Dads

My dad's b-day was the 12th (76!) and their 49th anniversary the 13th... September is just a good month! I got my dad's card in the mail late, so I mentioned when I called him that it probably wouldn't get there in that day's mail and he said I don't need birthdays anymore I'm too old! ha, this from a man who's mother only passed four months ago at 103! The man's got great genes! I say as long as you wake up and your feet hit the floor you're never too old!
